Titus Workman returns to home state as new Times WV publisher

Titus Workman has been named publisher of the Times West Virginian, excited to not only take over the head duties of the newspaper, but to do it in his home state.

"I wanted to get back to this area – back to my home state," Workman said. "But what intrigued me about this particular position was that I know the area, having been in Morgantown for eight years.

"So I had the familiarity with the area and the opportunity to be able to lead a newspaper again."

The 63-year-old native of Logan returns to West Virginia after moving away in 1998, when he started working for a paper in Fayetteville, N.C. Workman first started working in advertising at the local paper in Logan before becoming advertising director at the Dominion Post in Morgantown. He has held positions at a few other papers over the years, including the publisher position at the Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald. Workman said he is excited to get back into that role in Fairmont.

"A publisher's role is to be involved in the community, the way I see it," Workman said. "We're there to record history, to talk about things and make sure people are aware and keep people knowledgeable."
