Scottsbluff Star-Herald publisher Roger Tollefson unexpectedly dies

Star-Herald Publisher Roger Tollefson, 56, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, March 6.

Tollefson recently was promoted from general manager to publisher on Dec. 17, 2018. He had been a Star-Herald team member since Feb. 18, 1991. In addition to the publisher and general manager duties, Tollefson served as production manager, sales leader and circulation manager through the years.

He was involved in multiple community organizations and served in leadership roles with Scottsbluff/Gering United Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Western Nebraska.

"Our hearts go out to the Tollefson family," said BH Media Group Vice President Shon Barenklau, who helps oversee the Star-Herald, Gering Courier and Hemingford Ledger. "Roger was an integral part of the Star-Herald operation and will be missed greatly by all."
