The Virginian-Pilot removes comments from website
Posted
The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, Va.) has shut down its comments section.
The Pilot has been undergoing several changes after its sale to Tribune Publishing last year. One of the changes is an overhaul of PilotOnline.com, which will debut later this month. As part of that overhaul, which will change the look and feel of the website, the comments section is being removed.
In a notice to readers, the paper said: "We value your opinion, and remain committed to building communities and engaging with our readers." It encouraged readers to:
- Share and comment on stories on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (or other social networks that allow comments).
- Send us a story tip! We want to hear what you have to say.
- Consider submitting a letter to the editor through our opinion section. These letters, if approved, appear both in our newspaper and on PilotOnline.com.
- Have a question about Hampton Roads? Our reporters are ready to answer it.
