League City, Kemah to get a new hyperlocal, monthly newspaper

Posted

Residents in League City and Kemah will find something new and exciting in their mailbox on Aug. 29 – the League City/Kemah Connection newspaper.

Contrary to popular opinion, newspapers are not dead. As a matter of fact, creatively-focused newspapers are thriving all across the country. And this one will be a brand-new kind of newspaper for a very special community.

The League City/Kemah Connection will be a hyperlocal, monthly newspaper focusing on the nuts and bolts of what is going on in the lives of the community.

I know some people are wondering who starts a newspaper in today's world. Well, we do.

As the League City and Kemah communities begin to define and distance themselves from the Houston market – each taking on their distinctive and individual personalities – we believe the time is right celebrate that fact.

Quality, compelling and trusted news coverage will be the calling card of the Leagues City/Kemah Connection.

While not always sexy, keeping residents informed about taxes, property values and the decisions by locally elected officials is critical to a healthy community. And that is just what we hope to do – contribute to a healthier League City/Kemah community.

The League City/Kemah Connection will be delivered free of charge to 30,000 households – making it the largest circulation newspaper serving the fast-growing market.

Yes, we know in this risk-averse world, things like this just don't happen all the time. But then again, we don't think of ourselves as sleepy old-world business. We see potential and opportunity everywhere we look these days. And that is just what this exciting new chapter is all about.

We believe the time is right for League City/Kemah residents to have their own newspaper – and so does the local businesses community. We can't thank the local businesses enough for helping to bring this very innovative product to the community. The business support has been simply tremendous.

We also believe strongly in newspapers and the important role they can play in the lives of a community. We are the original trusted content producers and take this mission very seriously. Breaking the traditional mold, as we are doing with the League City/Kemah Connection, is just another example of our commitment to innovation and listening to the communities we serve.

We hope you enjoy this new and exciting chapter in the history of Texas newspapers. After all, The Daily News, the oldest newspaper in the state of Texas, has a long tradition of rising up to meet the needs of the community. All we can say is, hello League City/Kemah!
