Hearst has acquired the Connecticut print and digital assets of 21st Century Media Newspaper, LLC, a Digital First Media company. The acquisition includes three daily newspapers – New Haven Register, The Middletown Press and The Register Citizen – as well as eight weekly newspapers, niche publications and Connecticut Magazine.

#WithoutNews raises awareness of threats to journalists 6/5/17

On Monday, June 5, no newspapers were displayed in the Today's Front Pages exhibit outside the Newseum on Pennsylvania Avenue, inside the Newseum or online at newseum.org. No pages were displayed on the SNPA website either. In their place were blacked-out pages featuring the hashtag #WithoutNews. The newspaper blackout marks the Newseum's third annual #WithoutNews campaign, meant to raise awareness of the threats to journalists around the world.

The Southeast Kentucky Publishing facility contacted the Kentucky State Police and evacuated the building after receiving a bomb threat Saturday evening.

Windows shattered at Herald-Leader building; suspected bullet damage found 5/30/17

Several windows were shattered at the main office of the Lexington Herald-Leader in downtown Lexington, amid suspected signs of small-caliber bullet damage to the building.

The Herald-Leader filed a report on the damage with Lexington Police, who were at the building investigating early Monday morning.
